The World Air Mail Day Standing Display was jointly organised by the Royal Philatelic Society London (RPSL) and the Air Mail Society India Foundation (AMSI) at London, commencing on 18 February 2026, and will remain on display for one month.
This collaborative initiative was facilitated through the efforts of Mr. Markand Dave, FRPSL, RPSL Representative for India, and Mr. Piyush Khaitan, FRPSL, FPCI, Chairman of the Air Mail Society India Foundation.
World Air Mail Day commemorates the world’s first officially sanctioned airmail flight, which took place on 18 February 1911 from Allahabad (now Prayagraj) in India, marking a significant milestone in global postal and aviation history.
To honour this historic event, a curated standing display of 20 single-frame exhibits has been assembled from exhibitors across the world. The exhibits cover a broad range of themes within Aero- and Astrophilately, including the pioneering 1911 flight, the development of early airmail routes between continents, the introduction of India’s first airmail stamps, international air networks, airship and Zeppelin mails, catapult and rocket mail experiments, wartime innovations, and the evolution of space mail and international space missions.
This collaborative display reflects the shared efforts of RPSL and AMSI in promoting the study and appreciation of aerophilately and astrophilately, while commemorating 115 years of the world’s first official airmail service.
